Give Your Die Cuts the Wow Factor!

Hello!  Today I am sharing a simple technique that will give your die cuts the wow factor! I started with Carta Bella's Ahoy There collection and the anchor from their coordinating Designer Dies set.  I wanted my die cuts to stand out, so I kept the card somewhat simple.  The die cut anchors were super cute on their own, but I pulled some twine from my stash for some dimension.   I never would have guessed that these anchors would have turned out as cute as they did!  I want to put these little things on everything now!   Let me show you how to make your own adorable anchors!

Here is how to embellish the anchors!
1.  Start with your die cut anchor and twine.  Wrap the twine once around the top portion of the anchor as shown.
2.  Take the piece on the right hand side and wrap it behind the anchor and around the front to the lower portion of the anchor. The other piece stays put.
3.  Continue wrapping the twine around the anchor until most of it is wrapped.
4.  Use a glue pen to put a small amount of glue on the back side of the anchor and hold it for a minute while it dries.  Do the same for the remaining piece as well.
And then just trim off the excess when the glue dries.  I used Zig 2 Way Glue for this and it worked really well.

I also want to show you how I easily added the twine to the top of the anchor as well.  I think it really finishes it off!
1.  Take a piece of twine and push a loop of it through the back side of the anchor.
2.  Take the loose ends and feed them through the loop.
3.  Pull up on the loose ends so that the loop tightens around the anchor top.
4.  Cut off the ends of the twine.  You could also leave the ends of the twine long as well!

And there you have one adorable anchor!  I hope you have followed along and give these a try sometime.  You will love them!  I hope I have inspired you get creative when embellishing your die cuts.  I love how just the little bit of twine really finishes them off!

Gift packaging for Father's Day!

Hi!  Today I am sharing a fun little gift box for dad!  It is great for either the dad that loves to get the traditional tie or the dad that loves to get some home made cookies!  I started with a 3d candy box from the Silhouette store.  I then picked the masculine colored elements from Pink Paislee's Pen Pals and Hello Sunshine collection.  The red and navy are from Pen Pals, while the gray is from Hello Sunshine!

I am in love with the little typewriter die from the Pen Pals stamp and die set!!  Isn't it darling?!?  I wanted it to be my featured element... And I love that the puffy heart sticker at the top really says it all, don't you think?!?    And the chipboard banner alphas are the perfect size for this smaller box.  Love!

The box was very easy to assemble!  Let me show you!
I first cut the box pieces out using my Cameo.  I then took both the box top and box bottom and folded all of the perforated edges in toward the middle.

I then applied a little bit of liquid glue to the small flap and adhered it to the long side.  I repeated with all four corners on the base and box top.

I like the liquid adhesive so I can slide the flap around for a few seconds while I make sure the corner is lined up correctly.

Once the box bottom and top was made, I simply slid the box top over the box bottom and that was it.  And then decorated it as you saw above!  So easy!
Thanks for stopping in!  I hope I have inspired you to get crafty for dad!

A new sketch challenge!

Hello!  There is a brand new and fun sketch challenge up on the Paper Bakery blog so I wanted to share it with you!  I had a lot of fun using it as my starting point and I think you will as well!  Doesn't it look like a great fun sketch?  Be sure to hop over and check it out!  :)

Well, I certainly think it is a great sketch because I created what I think is a great layout from it!  Take a look!

I started out with the neutral strips for the background because I didn't want it to be too busy.  But I felt it needed a little something else.  So I drew in thin lines with my ruler and drew in some squiggles.  I love working with sketches!  It gets me thinking out of the box- just like with the squiggles.  And I love them!

I hand cut triangles instead of the chevrons.  And all of the bubbles reminded me of mist splatters so I used a couple colors of mist from my stash.  But other than that, everything came from the Paper Bakery's May SCRAPBOOK Kit!  It really is a great kit so be sure to check it out!

Thanks for dropping by!

Father's Day is right around the corner!

Good day everyone!  Just a reminder that Father's Day is fast approaching!  So today I am sharing two Father's Day cards that I made with the fabulous Ahoy There collection from Carta Bella!   I simply love the nautical theme and colors of this collection!  But I also love that parts of it are neutral enough to be used for other occasions- such as Father's Day!

I love the kraft color that is included in this collection!  It's the prefect neutral color to coordinate with this color palette.  And it reminds me of sand!  I wonder if the designers did that on purpose?!? And how cool is the font that just happens to be included on the sticker elements sheet?

And how fun is this card eh?  I used the tale end of the whale sticker to pop out of the waves!  And notice the banner buoys!  This might just be my favorite part of the collection! So cool.

I hope you have enjoyed Ahoy There as much as I have!
Thanks for stopping in today!  As always, I truly appreciate it!

Stay Connected layout!

Good day everyone!  Today I am sharing a layout I made about staying connected with my younger sister that is away at college.  I was inspired by the May Paper Bakery SCRAPBOOK kit and the Pink Paislee speech bubble and telephone puffy sticker that was included.  I was intrigued by the circle patterned paper by Crate Paper that is included in the kit as well.  I knew I wanted to do something different with it, but let me tell you getting up the guts to cut it like I did took me awhile!  Ha!  But it was worth it, I really like how it turned out!
I added just a bit of orange and kraft cardstock from my stash and a bit of embroidery floss.  Everything else is included in the fabulous May Paper Bakery kit!  You will definitely want to check it out!  The cork Thickers  in the kit are my new favorite alphas!
And of course, close ups of the darling Pink Paislee Switchboard items included in the kit!  Don't you just love those speech bubbles and the puffy telephone!?!?
Thanks so much for stopping in today everyone!  Have a great weekend!

A fun layout!

Good day everyone!  Today I am sharing a fun layout I made with the equally fun Paper Bakery May SCRAPBOOK kit!  I really enjoyed working with this kit!  I am really happy with the way all of my projects turned out from this kit, so this kit must be awesome, right?!?  I pulled the green, pink, and yellow pieces out from the kit and I love how it turned out!  I documented a selfie my younger sister took of herself right before an important job interview.
I only added a little bit of cardstock from my stash and a pinch of embroidery floss.  I simply adore the Crate Paper green bow vellum that is included in the kit.  And how fun is the yellow and white Pink Paislee paper that is included as well?!? Did I mention I love this color combination?
And isn't this rub-on seriously "darling"?  I think so!  I hand trimmed the hearts from the included American Crafts patterned paper.  And the speech bubble is from the Pink Paislee Switchboard puffy sticker set! Love!
Thanks so much for dropping by today!  You can check out what else is included in the cool Paper Bakery May SCRAPBOOK kit right here!  You won't be disappointed!  Have a great day!
